Douglas J. Wilson is a Senior Fellow of Theology at New Saint Andrews, a permanent member of the College’s Board of Trustees, and a Professional in Residence.
He teaches Rhetoric and electives at the undergraduate level and theology and writing at the graduate level.
He received a B.A. in Classical Studies, and a B.A. and an M.A. in Philosophy, all at the University of Idaho. He pursued additional graduate studies in theology at Regent College in Canada.
Mr. Wilson is widely recognized as one of today’s leading defenders of the Christian faith. He has gone head to head in debates with some of today’s leading atheists. His online debate with Christopher Hitchens in Christianity Today turned into a best-selling book, Is Christianity Good for the World? Their debates in New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. were the basis for a popular video documentary, Collision. When Hitchens died December 15, 2011, Mr. Wilson wrote his obituary for Christianity Today.
Mr. Wilson is a prolific author. His most recent works include Wordsmithy, A Rhetoric Companion, A Study Guide to Calvin’s Institutes, and Five Cities that Ruled the World.
Mr. Wilson has authored numerous books related to education: The Case for Classical Christian Education, Recovering the Lost Tools of Learning, The Paideia of God, and Excused Absence: Should Christian Kids Leave Public School? He edited and contributed to Omnibus I: Biblical & Classical Civilizations (Veritas Press, 2005), Repairing the Ruins: The Classical and Christian Challenge to Modern Education. He is one of the editors of the popular homeschooling Omnibus series (Veritas Press).
His many works on theology and practical Christian living include Mother Kirk, Reformed is Not Enough, and To a Thousand Generations. He has also written several children’s books and novels. Mr. Wilson is also a popular speaker at conferences on history, education, theology, and family issues. He is the editor of Credenda/Agenda magazine.
Mr. Wilson has been the pastor of Christ Church, Moscow, for more than 30 years. He also sits on the governing boards of Logos School, Moscow, and the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (ex officio). He is active in the leadership of the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (crechurches.org).
He and wife Nancy have three grown children and a whole bunch of grandchildren, all of whom live in Moscow.
